We were scheduled to be at breakfast at 6:30 for a long days hike instead Sonja knocks on my door to say she has been up all night with sickness, both her and Susan were ill. I needed to make a quick decision about whether I would good on without her. I decided I should and took off into the cool foggy morning. I had a quick breakfast and hit the road not noticing my feet I was both excited and nervous about going solo. The fog was captivating my attention so much though that I soon took a wrong turn up a good size hill going about 20 minutes in the wrong direction but consoling myself, "well at least I got some good pictures of the fog." Back on the right track I started up a,steep rocky trail into the woods. I had just read about St Francis and the wolf in Gubbio which was were I was headed so I looked often into the woods hoping once again to catch a glimpse of wild life. I did happen upon a group of horses that appeared to be wild or at least on their own. They were grazing by an old abandoned house.
I warmed up fast and the sun came out, it was truly beautiful walking through the pine forests and atop the valleys ridges. Unfortunately it appeared that I too was starting to have some issues. I ran out of toilet paper before 9:30. I tried to convince myself i wasn't getting sick, but it didn't work. After much contemplation I decided I would have to sacrifice my shirt. I was thankful it was cool enough that morning that i brought a jacket that I could wear instead. I was walking quickly and trying to stay hydrated which meant I was out of water by 12:00. So feeling pretty beat, feet now yelling, hungry but afraid to eat I called Sonja. She and Susan were feeling better and would meet me at a designated pickup spot. I was glad to see them pull up as I was heading down into town. We are staying at an airbb in Gubbio, a larger city with lots to see, hoping we will feel up to it. We are gonna lay down for a bit
